Omexom Indonesia has won UPC Renewables, a global developer specializing in wind power projects, to realize this pioneering project of the construction of a wind farm.

In a country where primary energy production is dominated by coal, followed by natural gas, the construction of a wind farm is a major challenge. It is in this context that Omexom Indonesia, which has been present in the country for about fifty years, has been chosen to build the country’s first wind farm, Sidrap.

The new contract provides for conception studies, provision of equipment and construction of the entire electrical network connecting the 30 wind generators to the transformer station, the high voltage substation and a 150 kV transmission line to be connected to the national grid electric.

The Sidrap wind farm will be connected directly to the high voltage network of the South / South-East region of the Sulawesi island and will enable this region, with its annual production capacity of approximately 270 GWh, to generate a little more than 4 % of its electricity consumption due to wind energy.

The duration of the project is estimated at 11 months for an amount of the contract amounting to 10, 6 M €.
